Personal Care Services

Practicing good hygiene, taking care of your emotional health, and getting yourself ready in the morning become harder as you age. Mobility obstacles and fears about falling can be a hindrance for the elderly, dictating their mood for the rest of the day. Comfort Home Care provides compassionate care that can help seniors retain some of their independence while making sure they are safe and well cared for. Our approach is tailored to the individual patient to help encourage them, keep their mental stamina intact, and achieve a better quality of life. Below are some of the services we can provide to elders.

Bathing And Hygiene

Many slips and falls occur in the bathroom for elderly patrons, especially when bathing, showering, or standing to get ready for the day. Comfort Home Care can provide help during bathing, teeth brushing, and getting themselves ready for the day. Our team combines skills and compassion to help elders maintain their physical strength, reduce injury, and keep their bodies clean and healthy.

Dressing And Grooming

Doing your hair, putting on your favorite outfit, and practicing other grooming habits helps everyone to start their day on the right foot. Our caregivers can help elderly patients look their best, which can help boost their mood and overall quality of life. Allowing a caregiver to help with these tasks can help provide you with some more personal time, so you can focus on caring for them long term.

Feeding

Medical conditions, special needs, and old age can make it difficult to eat without assistance. Comfort Home Care can provide feeding support for those who struggle to hold utensils or swallow whole foods. Eating is important for overall health, but it may become difficult to eat certain foods as you age. Our team can help create a customized meal plan and assist with feeding for our patients who struggle with swallowing, hand tremors, or stroke muscle weakness.

Mobility Assistance

Walking, transferring, and moving around the home safely are also involved in our personal care services. We help patients navigate complex areas, transferring from the car or getting in and out of the bathtub, so they can avoid injuries. Older patients may be able to live independently, but need mobility assistance to feel safe in their space. Personal care services can be customized to different patients and may only require a caregiver for 30 minutes at a time.

Toileting And Incontinence

Our caregivers can provide discreet and dignified bathroom assistance as well. While it is not something we typically want to let people help us with, aging adults may struggle with this daily bodily function. Help with even the smallest tasks can help make aging in place feel more dignified and comfortable. We want all of our patients to feel comfortable, safe, and as independent as possible.

Promoting An Active Lifestyle And Self-Care

It can be difficult for those seniors who still have much of their independence to seek help, even if they feel overwhelmed by how their body and mind are deteriorating. Our caregivers can help promote independence wherever possible while providing necessary care to prevent injury. Our team can help with physical therapy exercises, participate in hobbies with the patient, and help transport them to community events. An active and social lifestyle is important for people of all ages, especially elders who may feel as if they are losing part of themselves.

Experienced Caregivers

Comfort Home Care thoroughly vets our caregivers to ensure we hire compassionate, competent, and dependable caregivers. It takes a lot of trust to allow a stranger into the home of your parent or grandparent. Letting someone take care of a loved one is not something that we take lightly. We are happy to care for your loved ones!

Scheduling a consultation with us will help us create a personalized treatment plan and schedule of when to provide care/companionship daily. We have multiple caregivers with different skills, so your loved one will get the best care, tailored to them. We know that many families put off in-home care because of cost or guilt. Comfort Home Care is here for you through every step of the process and helps you fill in the gaps of the care you are able to provide.

What Are The Benefits Of Personal Care Services?

Receiving skilled care will prevent extended hospital stays, expensive medical bills, broken limbs, keep loved ones out of a nursing home, heal appropriately from surgery, enjoy hobbies into older age, and give additional peace of mind for family members about the safety of their loved one. Our caregivers can help all types of elders and provide them with a better quality of life.

How Often Will A Caregiver Visit?

Comfort Home Care will work with patients and their families to discuss the most appropriate times to work with the patient. Depending on the elder’s needs, our caregivers can come multiple times a day or once a week. Most people who seek personal care will have a caregiver come for at least 4 hours a day, at least twice a week.
